Matthew Johnston

Matthew is an Associate at 65 Equity Partners, based in New York. 

He joined 65 Equity Partners from Brookfield where he focused on private equity transactions across the industrial and software sectors. Prior to Brookfield, Matthew was an Associate within Goldman Sachs’ Industrials Investment Banking Group. 

Matthew started his career at Citi and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business.

Matt Doherty

Matt is an Investment Principal at 65 Equity Partners, based in New York.


Matt has over a decade of middle market principal investing experience. Prior to 65 Equity Partners, Matt was an Investment Professional at TZP Group, where he invested in founder and family-owned businesses across consumer and business service verticals. During his tenure at TZP, Matt led the execution of several platform investments, add-on acquisitions and capital markets transactions, serving in numerous board roles and working closely with portfolio companies including Saatva, Christy Sports, Assos of Switzerland, SA Company, and Media Storm.
Prior to TZP, Matt previously worked in Direct Lending at Medley Capital, where he completed over 25 sponsored and non-sponsored financing transactions across various industries.



Matt started his career at Goldman Sachs. Matt is currently Vice Chair of UJA Federation of New York’s NextGen Private Equity group.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business.


Leon Brujis

Leon is a Partner and Head of East Coast (United States) at 65 Equity Partners, based in New York.


Leon brings nearly two decades of investing experience, partnering with and supporting the growth of family and founder-owned businesses. Most recently, he served as a Partner and a Member of the Management Committee at Palladium Equity Partners, where he led investments in the services and consumer sectors. During his tenure at Palladium, Leon served on multiple boards, including
TransForce, Daniel’s Jewelers, Cannella Response Television, Celeritas, Del Real Foods, Pronto Insurance, Raben Tire and Teasdale.


Leon also serves as the Chairperson of New America Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing capital access for women and minority-owned firms, particularly in the Asset Management Sector. He began his Wall Street career in investment banking at the mergers and acquisitions group at Lehman Brothers.


Leon earned a M.S. in Finance, Economics & Cost Engineering and a B.S. in Operations Research (magna cum laude) at The George Washington University.
